Year 1	August Year 1: Enter Program First Stage: the M.S. Degree and the Qualifying Exam Take Core Curriculum Courses.
	Spring Year 1: Choose Ph.D. Advisor. May Year 1: Take written qualifying exam Qualifying Examinations Explained Summer Year 1: MS Thesis Research.
Year 2	By January Year 2: Pass Oral Qualifying Exam. Complete Stage One.
Year 3	Second Stage: After the Qualifying Exam to the Preliminary Exam August Year 3: Complete MS Degree. May Year 3: Complete Coursework. Choose Preliminary Exam Committee. Summer Year 3: Pass Preliminary Exam. Complete Stage Two.
Year 4	Third Stage: After the Preliminary Exam to the Final Exam Choose Final Exam Committee Year 4: Pass Final Exam Defense. File Thesis.
